Approved!!

Hello readers! I've got great news! I had to go up for an appointment on Monday, this one with the surgeon I didn't get to see last time cause I'd gained weight. I lost about 20 lbs this time and was at my lowest... exactly what they wanted to see I guess. After chatting with my dietitian, I got to meet the surgeon. He asked at the end of the meeting if I still wanted to get the LAP-Band and I said "Yes!". He said "Then we'll go ahead with the tests and put you in line for the surgery."

YIPEE!! I'm excited, but I'm also medicated (sore back) and found it a little anti-climatic. No date is set yet, and I've got more trips to Edmonton and more tests to do (barium swallow, yummy). If there prove to be no medical reasons that I shouldn't get the LAP-Band, then I'm golden. I'm very excited... now that I've had a few good nights rest and my back hurts a bit less, I can feel the excitement a bit more.

But the trip up there was 'hell on wheels'. We had 3 days of snow storms before Monday, and the roads for the most part were covered in 1" of hard, packed, glistening ice. Nasty. My dear hubby took the day off to drive me up and back, and he was exhausted by it. We counted 67 cars, 2 semi's and 1 bus in the ditches and the trip that normally takes only 2.5 hours took 4 in total. Ugly stuff.

I was worried that we would get there and find out no-one had gotten to work at all. But that wasn't the case. It wasn't snowing too bad in Edmonton, but it was blowing white-out in a few places in between. I hope none of those poor souls in the ditch got too hurt. After the meeting we turned around and came right back home, on the same crappy roads. Good grief it was stressful!

Then on Tuesday after I got home, I got a call from another doctor in Edmonton who is doing my 'lung test' for sleep apnea or something I think. They had to cancel my May appt and move it to back... to NEXT Monday. LOL! Back up I go I guess. This is nuts, but I bet when I'm smaller than a size 14 I won't care. Here's to hoping.

Lastly, my back is a bit better. And I can tell the chiropractic stuff is working because now the pain has definitely moved to my hip. This is normal. I've been through this before. I have to go through all the pain backwards to the health because this is slow, gently chiropractic stuff -- he uses the little metal tamping device so everything moves slowly back. Between "agggg, I'm gonna die" and "hey, that feels much better" there's hole lot of "agggg, that hurts too in a different place". Oh well, at least it's not permanent.
